The big brains at Google recently issued a dire warning to web publishers that in July 2018 Google will begin explicitly warning website users if a site is not https compliant. More than one-half of all web users worldwide utilize Chrome as a browser, meaning this switch will have a substantial impact on the internet. The warning will likely affect whether a user feels secure browsing a site and will cause some visitors to leave and choose an https compliant site, which will increase the site bounce rate, impact the expense for advertising impressions, impact affiliate clicks and reduce e-commerce sales.
